Job Description

Are you a responsive, versatile writer with a legal background? This freelance position offers those with an attorney’s research prowess and a journalist’s storytelling talent an opportunity to draft blogs and collaborate with a best-in-class digital agency.

BluShark Digital prides itself on being an agency that puts its clients first. We are dedicated to developing innovative, practical, and successful SEO solutions for businesses, no matter their size or practice. Headquartered in Washington, D.C. but with a national presence, we help law firms stand out online, bringing them more than just leads; we bring them results.

As a BluShark legal content blog writer, you will have the opportunity to exercise your skills in research and writing while working from home and creating your own schedule. Our blogs mainly fall into four categories:

  • Points of law blogs consider a specific topic about the law in a location (e.g., Does Florida Have a Different Minimum Insurance Requirement for Commercial Vehicles vs. Personal Vehicles?)
  • News you can use blogs offer instructions on specific topics (e.g., What to Know About Child Support Deviations)
  • Breaking news blogs center on a current issue or event (e.g., Congress Considers Multiple Bills Affecting NIL Laws in College Sports)
  • Backgrounder blogs provide other information that a reader might find helpful (e.g., What Can a Personal Injury Lawyer Do for You?)
  • Hybrid blogs are combinations of two or more of these types.

If getting paid to write about the law and legal developments in a variety of ways sounds exciting, we encourage you to apply for this position.

In our hiring process, each resume will be reviewed by our recruiting team. Selected candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample. This is the chance to make a good impression and display your skills. The candidates with the strongest samples will be selected to participate in a phone interview so we can learn more about your experience and share our expectations for the role. The sample will exclusively serve as an evaluative tool in our hiring process. This opportunity allows candidates to gain insight into the nature of a standard assignment at BluShark Digital, expanding selected candidates' understanding of the expectations associated with the role.

Our business is constantly growing and we are looking for someone to catalyze that growth. If you have a sincere passion for writing and providing clients with top-notch content, this is the right opportunity for you.

To start, writers can expect to produce up to 15 posts of 500-word blogs per month, at a rate of $15 to $20 per blog. The order volume may increase depending on client demand, writing quality, timeliness in submitting assignments, and adherence to guidelines. We look for a quick turnaround time from blog assignment to completion, within 24 to 48 hours.

Please submit a short writing sample (no more than 700 words) along with your resume. Acceptable writing samples include a short article, blog, or marketing material. Samples illustrating an understanding of SEO marketing is a plus. Applicants who do not submit a writing sample along with their resume will not be considered.
