Job Description

Saint Joseph's College of Maine seeks a dynamic individual for the position of Enrollment Support Specialist. This position supports the department of Nursing and student by: collaborating with faculty and the Program Director, Undergraduate Nursing to create and maintain the simulation environment; collaborating with the Undergraduate Program Director and the ABSN Program Director on labs and Immersions; and supports the Nursing department.

Collaborates with faculty and other departments/ organizations to create the simulation environment by:

  • Setting up equipment, cleaning equipment, and storing equipment
  • Assisting with simulation design to meet student learning outcomes
  • Assisting with rapid environmental changeovers between simulations and labs
  • Operating and programming the simulators for all training sessions as directed by faculty or other departments/ organizations
  • Maintaining inventory of equipment and ordering supplies as needed
  • Track inventory use and spending data to assist with the budgetary process
  • Maintaining the LRC in compliance with all applicable regulations and accreditation standards
  • Scheduling lab and simulation space in collaboration with faculty and other departments/ organizations
  • Maintaining all simulation and lab equipment in good working order
  • Reporting issues with any equipment to the Program Director, Undergraduate Nursing
  • Assisting in updating current software programs and manikins as needed
  • Coordinating IT support for all computers
  • Interfacing with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and systems problems
  • Managing medical supplies and equipment needed to enhance delivery of simulation activities with timely ordering and availability
  • Participating in training faculty and other Center staff in the operation aspects of simulation
  • Evaluating new equipment and identify opportunities for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education
  • Participating in technical training/ professional development activities as necessary
  • Establishing and maintaining vital records and statistics as they pertain to simulation such as a detailed record of all education and training conducted, hierarchal storage of all digitally recorded simulations, and record of repair and maintenance of simulators
  • Orienting students, faculty and other departments/ organizations on equipment in the simulation center and conduct tours as needed in the cente
  • Training and managing future simulation technologists

Collaborates with the Undergraduate Program Director and the ABSN Program Director on labs and Immersions by:

  • Establishing times and activities for open lab to support on campus student learning
  • Participating in scheduled course labs with faculty by reviewing skills with students and providing guidance
  • Participating in scheduled ABSN immersions with faculty by reviewing skills with students and providing guidance

Supports the Nursing department by:

  • Maintaining and managing the respiratory protection plan per OSHA guidelines
  • Maintaining records of FIT testing performed
  • Scheduling and administering fit tests as needed
  • Training faculty and staff to administer tests
  • Tracking and ordering supplies for testing
  • Maintaining all equipment used in the respiratory protection plan
  • Coordinating with clinical placement sites on mask needs

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required
  • Active RN license in the state of Maine
  • Experience in simulation preferred
  • Experience with technology including audio visual equipment preferred
  • Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare environment and familiarity with troubleshooting hardware and software applications strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Mail, Google Docs, etc.
