The Symington Lab is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral scientist (PhD or MD-PhD) to study DNA repair mechanisms in the budding yeast model system. The main focus of the laboratory is to understand the mechanisms of homology-directed repair (HDR) of DSBs. Projects include: (1) The role of chromatin remodeling complexes in regulating DNA end resection. (2) Use of Cas9 nickases to model replication fork collapse and subsequent repair. (3) Understanding the mechanisms that suppress the accumulation of chromosome rearrangements. The successful candidate is expected to take the lead role in projects, present data at lab meetings and conferences, to publish manuscripts as a lead author, and to contribute to supervising students and support staff. We seek a scientist who is able to work independently and who demonstrates critical thinking and scientific rigor.
· PhD in genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related field.
· Experience in DNA manipulations, chromatin precipitation, qPCR, or related methods.
· First author publication in peer-reviewed journal
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
