Job Summary

A Security officer plays an integral role in creating peace of mind for Bread Financial and the associate population by protecting company assets, minimizing risk, and ensuring overall safety and security at an assigned location. This is not a typical “security guard” position sitting at a static post having limited interaction with others, instead it is a highly interactive position in a fast-paced environment that values our security team. We will train you to provide and maintain a safe working environment for our associates, contractors, and visitors, how to actively patrol and respond to potential threats against the company, and how to act as a first-responder in emergency situations. As a Security Officer, you will provide best-in-class security for Bread Financial, conducting focused patrols in order to protect people, property and information within your assigned area of responsibility. You will work as part of a team, but must also be prepared to act independently as the situation may warrant, as you will at times be the only security officer available to respond to incidents, answer questions or independently assess situations to formulate response actions.


Essential Job Functions

  • Life Safety: Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment and access points; ensuring facilities and restricted areas are properly secured and controlling/permitting entry for associates and non-associates. Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; identifies and addresses policy infractions with violators; investigates hazards and unusual or suspicious circumstances; checks electronic and mechanical devices that require monitoring and recording to report any abnormal conditions.

  • Associate Engagement: Provide excellent customer service to our associates, clients, and guests as an important ambassador of Bread Financials' unique culture. Security Officers must be engaging, approachable, and friendly while also demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and diligence when interacting with peers, associates, clients, guests and others.

  • Emergency Management: Render first-responder services to all emergencies and incidents within the scope of your training. Escalate emergencies that are outside the scope of your training to Police, Fire or Emergency Medical Services. Perform additional duties relates to special events, local/national emergencies, pandemics, and other circumstances as needed. Must have the ability to respond quickly to emergency, medical and security events anywhere on company premises, including but not limited to buildings and parking lots. The Security Officer must be able to respond to medical incidents with first aid bags and other equipment, carrying injured individuals(s) as required.

  • Administrative: Prepare incident reports utilizing an electronic incident reporting application to include recording observations, information, occurrences, activities, and interviewing witnesses; using various systems and computer applications to manage access control, video surveillance, emergency response, communications, and others; answering phone calls and directing them appropriately. Ability to follow the chain of command, and report required information accurately and in a timely manner to Leads, Supervisors and Managers within the Security organization

  • Technology: Monitor environmental, building and equipment controls and report irregularities; monitor fire and other life safety systems and report irregularities; respond to system alarms according to procedure.

Working Conditions/ Physical Requirements:

  • Security Officers are expected to be able to respond quickly to security related events and medical incidents, lift or carry equipment, participate in defensive tactics/personal protection training and numerous other physically demanding tasks.

  • The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive. Bending, Climbing, Kneeling, Reaching, Sitting, Standing, Walking, Lifting (Up to 50 lbs.).

  • Vehicle Operation. MVR will be run after conditional offer of employment. Flexibility with working hours and schedule for 24/7/365 operation hours.

  • Bread Financial is currently seeking a 3rd Shift Security Officer (shift 11:00pm ET- 7:00am ET, days off assigned through the week) for our Easton campus in Columbus, Ohio.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma or GED

  • Certification: obtain and/or maintain CPR/First Aid/AED certification within 30 days of employment

  • Two or more years in Security Operations, Law Enforcement, Military, or Customer Service Industry

Preferred Qualifications:

  • One or more years of college majoring in Security and / or law enforcement, Homeland Security

  • Three or more years Security and / or law enforcement

Typical Pay Range:

$18.00 - $26.65

Full Pay Range for position:

California: $20.70 - $33.30 Colorado: $18.00 - $28.00 New York: $19.80 - $33.30 Washington: $18.90 - $30.65 Maryland: $18.90 - $29.30 Washington DC: $20.70 - $30.65 Illinois: $18.00 - $29.30

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

This job is eligible for $1.00/hr shift premium for hours worked between 5pm-6am and all weekend hours (given specific requirements are met).

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates, both full time and part time, can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Full-time hourly associates receive a bi-annual grant of Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in each January and July based on their service date and scheduled hours, whereas newly hired full time hourly associates in their first year of employment receive a prorated PTO grant on their 61st day of employment based on the month of hire and scheduled hours. Associates will receive a payout of any unused PTO, up to 40 hours, paid out in the next calendar year (except associates in Alaska, California, Colorado, Montana and Nebraska who are paid for all unused PTO). Additionally, hourly associates (except those in California) generally receive 72 hours of Paid Sick Leave Plus (“PSL+”) per calendar year, with a pro-rated grant in the associate’s first year of employment to the extent allowed by applicable law. If additional PSL+ is required in a particular jurisdiction, the company with comply with applicable law. Unused PSL+ does not carry over from one calendar year to the next unless required by applicable law. Instead of PSL+, hourly associates in California receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December.
