Job Description
In this role you will set up production equipment such as, but not limited to, vertical and horizontal broaches, vertical and horizontal presses, mills, vertical and horizontal drills, shot peen, chamfer, grinders and induction hardening on manufacturing of materials and parts to specifications. Plan and lay out work, referencing blueprints, sketches, work orders, written or oral instructions as required. Operate production equipment as required in machining a wide range of materials and parts to specifications, changing tools as required to maintain tolerances. Assist in Quality Assurance applications (i.e. data collection, SPC, shot peen curves, etc.) as well as reading blueprints and working with work order packets. Guide, direct and instruct lower classified employees. Maintain high quality standards.
Performs related work and work of lower classifications as required. Works under general supervision receiving assistance from higher classified employees when warranted.
Work is always completed in a safe manner.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - High school degree, or GED equivalent, and 1 (one) year experience in the majority of above principal duties and responsibilities
- Ability to use detail and/or assembly drawings; advanced shop mathematics, handbook formulas (threads, speeds and feeds, etc.) precision measuring using instruments such as gage blocks, vernier calipers, height and depth gages, and surface gages
- Ability to performs minor tack welding tasks during setup operations, such as shims, washers and holders (these welding duties do not include welding tasks normally associated with or performed by millwrights)
