Job Posting: Immigration Paralegal
Location : Newark, NJ
Salary : $80,000 - $125,000 per year (commensurate with experience)
Position Overview :
Our well-established law firm in Newark, NJ, is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Immigration Paralegal to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of U.S. immigration law and experience handling a variety of immigration matters, including family-based petitions, employment-based immigration, naturalization, asylum, and removal defense.
Responsibilities :
* Assist attorneys in preparing, drafting, and filing petitions, applications, and supporting documents with USCIS, the Department of Labor, and other relevant government agencies.
* Manage case files from initiation through resolution, ensuring that all deadlines are met and clients are kept informed of case status.
* Conduct legal research on immigration law and policies.
* Prepare and file forms such as I-130, I-485, I-140, I-864, N-400, and others.
* Communicate with clients, government agencies, and other relevant parties to gather documentation and information.
* Attend client meetings and provide assistance during consultations.
* Organize and maintain client files in a methodical and efficient manner.
* Assist with trial preparation for immigration court cases (if applicable).
Qualifications :
* Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Immigration Paralegal.
* Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law and related procedures.
* Familiarity with USCIS, the Department of Labor, and other immigration agencies.
* Experience with filing and preparing immigration forms and petitions.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* High attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
* Paralegal certification preferred (e.g., NALA or NALS), but not required.
* Fluency in Spanish or other languages is a plus.
